“Il Vicolo” B&B is in the historical centre of San Giorgio a Liri (FR), a little village between Aurunci’s Mountains and the Liri River. A few steps away from the B&B, a spring creates a small lake with clear and pure waters surrounded by a gorgeous vegetation which goes through all the village. Its origins date back to the iron age, but with the birth of the Abbey of Montecassino, it becomes one of the important centres of the Liri’s valley. Besides the historical centre, you can visit two churches, some votive niches and an old mill in the park “Forma”.
San Giorgio a Liri is in the centre of the Liri’s valley and it’s very easy to reach by car or by train (A1 Highway, Appia, train station in Cassino or in Formia). It’s the ideal place to have beautiful excursions; in fact from here you can go to the Abbey of Montecassino or the Abbeys of Trisulti and Casamari, or visit Aquino and other small villages. On the opposite way, in few minutes, you can reach the sea and the famous Ulysses’ Riviera where the cities of Gaeta, Formia and Sperlonga stand out for their beauty. To appreciate totally the vegetation of the region you can easily reach the National Park of Abruzzo and the Regional Park of Aurunci’s Mountains. Moreover, in an hour distance, you can spend a gorgeous day at the theme park of Roma-Valmontone, “Rainbow MagicLand”, easily reachable through the A1 Highway.
We also have to underline the variety of typical regional food: from the “marzolina” (a typical goat cheese), to pork sausages, to the peppers of Pontecorvo (a small red pepper) and the famous mozzarella cheese.
The B&B is in an old stone house lately renovated, and it can host up to 5 people. It’s divided in two floors: on the ground floor there is a kitchen and a small bathroom, with an iron staircase you go on the first floor where is the bedroom with a queen-size bed and a spacious bathroom with all the comforts.

3 bed accommodations in the bedroom (a queen-size bed, a single bed and on demand a baby cot) and 2 bed accommodations in the kitchen-living room
2 bathrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor
A fully equipped kitchen with all necessary appliances, such as oven, microwave, tableware, toaster, and a table with four chairs
2 TVs, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom

Our proposal in collaboration with B&B “Maison Civico 13”
The B&B Maison Civico 13 is in the village of Ausonia at the foot of the Natural Park of Aurunci Mountains and it is on the important state highway which connect the Ulysses Riviera and the inland. This position makes easy reaching important touristic sites of South Lazio. In fact it is just 20 km far from the coast, well known as “Ulysses Riviera”, from the city of Formia, Gaeta and the pearl of the coast, Sperlonga. From here, towards the inland, you can visit the Abbey of Montecassino, just few kilometers far, the Abbey of Trisulti and the Abbey of Casamari and you can’t forget the small villages in the Aurunci mountains and in the Liri’s valley. For nature enthusiasts it is a perfect place from where you can have naturalistic excursions, both in the near Natural Park of Aurunci Mountains and in the National Park of Abruzzo.

On the path of Saint Benedict
We will walk on the last stretch of the path that Saint Benedict used from Norcia to reach the mountain where then he built his abbey. From the town of Villa Santa Lucia, we will walk up on a path still used by few remained shepherds, towards the Abbey, passing through woods of black hornbeams, maples and service trees. Moreover we can admire all the Liri valley, the mountain Meta in the Chain of Mainarde and the Mount Matese, Roccamonfina’s Park and the Chain of Aurunci Mountains. This path was also an important German supply route during the famous battle of Montacassino. The second excursion......
